Lots to be thankful for; and being able to get out for walks is one of them.

 

This crisp Winter weather is ideal for walking.

 

We nipped away for a few days over New Year, to walk the Berwickshire Coastal Path.

 

 

BERWICKSHIRE COASTAL PATH

 

Stretches from Cockburnspath to Berwick upon Tweed, just over the border to England.

48km long

 

The start of the walk is only 1 hour 25 minutes drive from us

 

We had beautiful sunny days with breathtaking scenery.

We also managed a dip in the sea to celebrate the new year.

 

We saw sea stacks, natural arches, towering cliffs, sea birds, breeding grey seals, nature reserves, cute fishing villages …

PEASE BAY LEISURE PARK

 

Now here’s a funny thing. On day 1 of our walk, we were starving for a 2nd breakfast! We were passing Pease Bay Leisure Park and popped in to the shop

looking for food. We ordered fried egg rolls and coffee and got chatting to Hilary, behind the counter. She has such an easy and friendly manner that

I felt like we’d been friends for years. Anyway, Hilary tells us that she loves Perthshire and loves visiting lodges in Bridge of Earn!!! I very excitedly shouted, “that’s us!”

Hilary had brough her parents to stay with us some years ago. What a coincidence though.

Pease Bay Leisure Park is a great base to explore this part of the coast. Tell Hilary I said hi!

 

 

Since we got home, we’ve done our usual favourites, including Pitkeathly Loch right from our door.

I’ve also resumed Sunday walks with my friend, Michelle, who is keen to do some Munros later this year.

We started small this weekend, with part of Loch Leven Heritage Trail.

It really was a Winter Wonderland, with the long grasses shivering with frost and the light playing on the loch showing off Loch Leven Castle to perfection.
