Autumnal Shift

As we Fall into Autumn, a whole new world emerges.

The colours are changing and our little corner of the world is a riot of colour.

In fact, the whole of Perthshire is looking magnificently vibrant.

The nights are drawing in but shorter days means beautiful colours, candles, a roaring fire, cosy jumpers …

And there’s a whole host of things to see and do this Autumn.

THE HAUNTINGS

The Black Watch Balhousie Castle, Perth To the 12 November

Until 12 November (free of charge)

the hauntings sculpture

A stunning installation, 6 metres high commemorating the centenary of the First World War.
The sculpture is created with bits of scrap metal and depicts a battle-weary soldier, symbolising the young men and boys who returned from war, literally in bits.
The Hauntings speaks for all who served.
There are lots of events around The Hauntings, looking at the impact of conflict, as well as remembrance and reflection.
For the October school holidays there are family activities at The Blackwatch.
I’ve been back to see this sculpture many times and am fascinated at how it captures the horror of war in the body language and facial expression of the soldier.
