Blowing the Covid Cobwebs Away

Hello 2021

Happy New Year!!!

Well that was some journey wasn’t it?

We have coped with most things by getting outside for walks (in our own area latterly)

For the last few weeks I have been working at Dundee University as part of the programme for mass testing students for Covid-19.

This was a voluntary scheme and allowed students to safely travel home for Christmas.

The work was carried out in lab-type conditions from 8.30am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday.

Having been self-employed for over 25 years, this was a bit of a shock to the system.

However, I found that I really enjoyed it. I liked meeting new people from all walks of life.

My daughter, Alannah was working in the same job and we commuted to and from work together.

The whole operation was managed by Leader Extraordinaire, Julie Christie along with David.

It was fascinating witnessing how quickly Julie and David put the team together, carried out the necessary training and ironed out the inevitable bumps and hiccoughs along the way.

We start back again tomorrow, 5th January, to re-commence the mass testing for returning students.

The reason I’m telling you all this is because for the duration of the pre-Christmas testing , it was dark when I left home and dark when I got home, so … no walkies for me. The 2 precious days off at the weekend were mostly filled with tedious chores that I normally manage any day while working from home. And of course, I still had to keep the business ticking over, sort out bookings, cancellations, updating risk assessments, taking new bookings for essential workers, emergency housing etc.

So, all the more reason to appreciate getting out in the hills pretty much every day over the holidays:

Somehow I have to shoehorn more time for walking, into my weekends off, once I start back at Dundee University.

I wish you all a Happy New Year with health and happiness and if you have those things then you already have wealth.

See you all soon for more shennanigins at River Edge Lodges
