Opening of the V&A Dundee
On Friday 14th September, the V&A Dundee Museum of Design finally opens with 3D Festival, which celebrates art, design and music and stars Primal Scream, the Scottish indie rock giants.
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September the V&A invites the first visitors to tour the museum.
The first exhibition Ocean Liners: Speed & Style, takes a nostalgic look at the golden age of sea-faring.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s restored Oak Room is also a central feature.
V&A Dundee has transformed the waterfront of the city, and aims to demonstrate visually the vital importance of creativity and design in our lives.
The museum was designed by Kengo Kuma, a Japanese architect, who wanted to bring a ‘living room’ to the city of Dundee.
There are several hundred featured objects, from 15th century artifacts to contemporary technology.
I’m lucky enough to have tickets to the opening weekend and I can’t wait!
