Hills an Hour or Two Away

Sgor Gaoith, Cairngorms, Munro bagging

Sgor Gaoith, Cairngorms

Sgor Gaoith is a fantastic Munro with breathtaking views. Starts at Glenfeshie near Newtonmore.

Ben Lawers Beinn Ghlas Kenmore Killin

Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas, two Munros between Kenmore and Killin

Two Munros for the price of one. Starts at Ben Lawers car park between Kenmore and Killin.

Corrie Fee Mayar Dreish Munros Glen Doll

Corrie Fee, Glen Doll on the way to Mayar and Dreish

A favourite of mine because I love Corrie Fee. It’s a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSCI) and I could potter about here all day. It just so happens that you enter the cathedral-like corrie and then walk along the floor of it, before climbing up the other side to reach Mayar and Dreish. Another Munro-bagging day where 2 Munros are climbed.

Ben Nevis

Ben Nevis

At 2 hours 20 mins I absolutely have to include The Ben. Ben Nevis is the highest peak in Britain and is eminently do-able in a day from here.

Fairy Hill of the Caledonians Schiehallion Munro

Schiehallion, Fairy Mountain, near Pitlochry

Another close Munro – 40 mins away. Schiehallion is the conical peak seen from many other peaks in Scotland. It means Fairy Hill of the Caledonians

At only 40 minutes drive away, Ben Vrackie is a great chance to visit Pitlochry and climb a Corbett. I like this one.

Mount Keen – Munro, an hour and a half away.

Ben Lomond – Munro an hour and a half away

Ben More – Munro an hour and 20 mins away

There are many more …
