The Scottish 6 Days Orienteering Event 2019

28 July – 2 August 2019, put it in the diary now!

The Scottish 6 Days Orienteering event  known as “the 6-Days” first started in 1977 and is now  a biennial event.

This orienteering event is the biggest in Britain and is held in a different part of Scotland each time.

There are over 3500 people competing at the 6-Days events as well as all the friends and families tagging along.

The 2019 Scottish 6-Day Event is from Sunday 28th July to Saturday 3rd August in the Strathearn area.

Here you have the best of both worlds:

The Highlands with stunning scenery, lochs, glens and mountains, and the gently rolling farmland just before The Highlands.

Culteuchar Hill

Culteuchar and Dron – just a hop skip and a jump away from us.

It’s quite a big open plateau, with some mixed woodland on the slopes.

There’s also an Iron Age hill fort on Castle Law (next to Culteuchar Hill), with fantastic views over Perthshire, Strathearn and the

River Tay to Dundee.

To get in practice how about getting involved with the Tayside Orienteers who have orienteering  events for all levels.

You don’t have to run to be involved in orienteering. It’s a sport that involves a bit of map-reading on the go, while walking or running.

It’s an adventure and great exercise for mind and body.

The challenge is to find a sequence of control points that are marked on a map as quickly as possible.  However it doesn’t have to be a race, there’s a lot of fun and satisfaction to be had in tackling the navigation and going at your own pace.
